CANNABIS / PSYCHEDELICS / KETAMINE

Known for many years as recreational drugs and stigmatized as drugs of abuse there has been a renewed light shed upon the potential medicinal role they may have in mental health.

Psychedelics have been used throughout history and originated in the Indigenous culture, some going back hundreds of years. With new understanding and evidence based studies along with recognition/respect of the cultural roots of these medicines, many people who have had poor results with traditional medications due to side effects or poor response may consider these options.

Dr. S has prescribed medicinal cannabis over the last number of years as well as actively educated the public and other healthcare professionals through speaking engagements on this subject .

Medicinal cannabis works on existing endocannabinoid system in our bodies which is involved in many aspects relating to chronic pain, sleep, anxiety and inflammation. He particularly has worked with Veterans and PTSD.

He is also familiar with the ongoing research in the potential future medical application of psilocybin(mushrooms/fungi), MDMA for PTSD, and ketamine for treatment resistant depression, with particular attention to inclusion of appropriate therapy that should accompany this option if legalized.

With further understanding and sharing of information in a responsible way, which is the goal of this platform, as well as an assessment with Dr.S , this is yet another option that may be appropriate for some who suffer with mental health conditions or want to explore how it may benefit them in other ways.
