ABOUT DR.S

From small town boy to the big city, to different countries, I have experienced many cultures and challenges. These experiences have helped shape how I practice medicine and connect to people.

After graduating medical school I briefly practiced Family medicine/obstetrics in the United States and then switched to Psychiatry. While completing residency and focusing on mental health I also completed a Master’s in Public Administration with additional certification in Health management and Policy from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. (Go Orange!)

My work in the Toronto area involved E.R psychiatry, outpatient care as well as administrative/educational roles with University of Toronto in the hospital
setting.

You see, early on I realized that I had to learn not just medicine in medical school, not just psychiatry in residency, but also the politics and policies involved that can amplify the voices of people I treat as I strive to help my patients achieve optimal mental health outcomes.

The hope is that with this and the shared experiences of others on this forum it may help inspire others to explore their own path to being well and doing good.
